Hello, dear TGFers, Before anything else, I will tell you that's one of the most important posts you would read here on Top Gold Forum. Please do not ignore it. You will thank me in a couple of months. If you are a regular TGFers you know that since 2020 we are preparing ourselves, as a community, to face the global financial crisis which is already here. I've managed to do well in the '08 crisis and also learned a lot of things that helped me see the upcoming crisis and prepare accordingly. So without further ado, I'm going to list 10 things I suggest you doing it to stay safe and why not, make a profit, in these troubling times. 1. Make sure you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. That's the most important piece of advice I can offer you and you should not take it lightly. It's important to make sure that you and your family, your close friends and your loved ones take care of their health and safety. 2. Take care of your expenses and reduce the non-essentials. If you haven't done it already you should have a close look at your monthly expenses and cut the things that are no longer essential. I did this in 2020 right in the middle of the pandemic and I was shocked to see how much money I was spending on things that I could easily cut or reduce. Just to give you some examples: Subscriptions to online tools and services I barely used. Also, I could downgrade my mobile phone payment by around 60% by switching to a smaller plan and the TV subscription with around 30%. So take a look sharply at your monthly bills and start ASAP reducing or cutting what is not essential. 3. Lower your debt or try to remain debt-free. This is important. As the interest rates are rising a lot you'll pay much more for your loans. Also, the banks and lending companies will become ruthless in getting their money back. That's why you need to lower your debt as much as possible and make sure you are paying the loans on time. If you are or you can easily become debt-free would be awesome. 4. Make sure you're not easily replaceable. This applies to you even if you're employed or a freelancer. During a financial crisis, many companies reduce their working force and the first ones that get laid off are persons that are not essential to the business. So ensure that you bring value to your employer or to the businesses you are working with. Become better, learn new things, and automate as much as possible of your work to have competitive rates. 5. Have 6-8 months of expenses covered. Just in case you get laid off or you simply do not get any more work as a freelancer you should have AT LEAST 6-8 months of expenses for your family covered. I recommend even having 12 months of expenses covered. I know this sounds too much but remember that we don't know how tough the crisis will be. Keep some of your savings in hard cash just in case the banks are going to limit the withdrawals. It's not SCI-FI, it happened before in the 08 crisis in Greece and Cyprus. 6. If you plan to sell anything, do it now. If you plan to sell your house, your car, or some assets you own, I recommend doing it ASAP. That's because soon there wouldn't be so much money in the markets and the interest rates will go up so people will be reluctant to purchase things that are not essential or are overpriced now. 7. Educate yourself - Learn new skills In the 4th point of this list, I've told you to ensure you're not easily replaceable. What I want to emphasize here is that in a recession companies look for ways to cut their costs. And one thing to do is through automation. Besides automation, there are new industries that rise now like blockchain, web3, digital healthcare, electric cars, etc. So don't be afraid to reinvent yourself for the jobs and opportunities of the upcoming years. 8. Develop multiple income streams (side hustles, money-making opportunities, etc) Having multiple income streams ensures you that will still make money even if lose your primary job or income opportunity. In times of financial crisis relying on only one income stream is risky. You may lose your job, your stock investment may plunge in value, etc so make sure you have a couple of income streams that are in diverse industries. I recommend checking the money-making opportunities here in TGF and choosing one or two that fit your skills and your risk profile. 9. Keep your eyes wide open for opportunities A financial crisis it's not only about hard times but also about opportunities. Netflix, Airbnb, Uber, and a couple of highly successful companies of today were started in the 08 crisis. On top of that the stock, commodities, and other assets were at good discounts. As Buffet says "be fearful when others are greedy and be greedy when others are fearful". In a financial crisis, most people are fearful and sell their assets at great discounts. That's the time when you can get them at a fraction of their true value. 10. Pay attention to SCAMs The last piece of advice that I want to share with you is to pay attention to SCAMs. That's because in troubling economic times the criminality rises sharply and there are many that want to get rich by stealing others' hard-earned money. So research everything, and don't fall for promises that are too good to be true. 11. (Bonus) Have a plan It's mandatory to have a plan and stick to it if you want to be well in these troubling times. If you don't have one you will be easily distracted by the news or the events that rise. As long as you have your plan you can adjust it easily but make sure you do everything in your power to reach your goals. To recap, this is what you should do to prepare yourself: Take care of yourself and the health and security of your loved ones; Cut or reduce your debt and your expenses that are not essential; Have money aside in case you get laid off and for investments and opportunities that arise; Learn new skills, and become better at what you do; Develop multiple income streams; Pay attention and do not fall for SCAMS; Have a plan! A 20-year-old college student explains how he made a business of faking trade volumes at crypto exchanges. The Takeaway Gotbit inflates trading volumes on obscure cryptocurrency exchanges for a fee and has about 30 token projects as clients. The firm programs bots to trade tokens back and forth with each other, creating the illusion of active markets so the assets can get listed on CoinMarketCap. Its co-founder says exchanges are aware of this manipulation but are not interested in stopping it. While it's rare to hear market manipulators talk openly about their trade, there are other businesses like this out there, experts say. To cryptocurrency professionals trying to legitimize their industry, market manipulation is a scourge. To 20-year-old Alexey Andryunin, it's a living. A sophomore at Moscow State University, Andryunin is the co-founder of Gotbit, a firm that specializes in making obscure cryptocurrencies look like they're being actively traded. For a fee, the two-man shop will program bots to trade a token back and forth with each other on also-ran exchanges until it has enough "volume" to get listed on CoinMarketCap. Once it appears on that influential market data site, an asset can gain the attention of larger platforms and bigger investors. The business is not entirely unheard-of, either, in a global market notorious for its lack of transparency. Bitwise Asset Management, one of several U.S. firms seeking regulatory approval to launch a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), has estimated that 95 percent of bitcoin trading volumes are faked and only 10 exchanges publish reliable data about volumes on their platforms, without inflated numbers. Bobby Ong, CEO of crypto ranking portal CoinGecko, said businesses like Gotbit exist and "it won't be too hard to find such people who can help you with these services." "These operators usually go around claiming that they can do market-making for token projects and inflate trading volume for a fee. This practice is also known as wash trading and is illegal," Ong said. It is possible to detect wash trading from the outside, Ong noted. Looking at the trade history and order book of exchanges, one can notice certain patterns and see that something fishy is going on: "If trades happen outside the bid-ask spread or constantly within the bid-ask spread, this is a clear example of wash-trading in action. One can also look at the trade interval and trade size to detect common recurring patterns to find wash-trading activities." You must know the other players and their objectives in every opportunity you want to join and make money. And the crypto world is no different. There is a well-known saying in poker: "If in the first half of an hour of a poker game you don't know who is the sucker at the table, then you are". That's why today I will tell you the leading players in the crypto world and who wants your money. Considering that large amounts of money change hands so often and the market is barely controlled, you should keep your eyes open. Otherwise, you will get scammed and lose your hard-earned money. 1. Coin & Token Creators These people launch cryptocurrencies: blockchains (LTC, ETH, DOT, XPRT) or Tokens (MDT, BAT). They create a website and the project roadmap and distribute tokens in exchange for cash or other currencies. Their main objective is to sell as many as possible of their tokens for as much money. Also, they can coordinate PUMPs and DUMPs. Besides that, they know when they will announce new features or listings on new exchanges so they can purchase more tokens on the market and sell them after the event at higher prices. 2. Whales Whales in crypto are persons and entities that own a large portion of a cryptocurrency. In the picture below, you can see on the Elrond blockchain who are the primary holders of EGLD. The whales are close to the people that develop the project or maybe some of the coin's owners. The point is that they have large quantities of a cryptocurrency and can quite easily coordinate themselves to make the market by selling or buying specific cryptocurrencies. Remember that I said they are close to the cryptocurrency owner and developers? This means they may have inside info about the going of a cryptocurrency, so they know when to buy or sell them. At some point, some of the whales may be enemies of crypto-owners when the interests are divergent. 3. Exchangers & Traders Exchange companies like Binance, Crypto.com, CoinBase and all other exchangers make money on spreads (the difference between the price of a cryptocurrency and the price they are selling it to you). Also, they make money by fees on deposits and withdrawals of users' funds. I hope you understand those ads that say that a particular crypto price was going down and up, inviting you to deposit. Besides, they require cryptocurrencies to pay to get listed on their exchange. For instance, to list a specific cryptocurrency on Binance is $1M+. 4. Institutional buyers and Investment funds These are banks, significant investment funds, and companies making investments and trades in cryptocurrency. Consider here Elon Musk and Tesla, MicroStrategy and all other investment funds. These companies usually get in proven cryptos and keep their positions for longer. That's because it's not easy to move large quantities of money from banks to exchangers and because if you sell large amounts of crypto fast, the price drops abruptly. 5. Influencers There are several types of influencers. The ones with the most connections in the crypto world and a large follower base got big sponsorships contracts to promote and boost specific cryptocurrencies. Other influencers get in early in specific projects and then shout videos to boost these projects on their channels. When the price grows, they start dumping the coins they purchased. Lastly, some influencers spread rumours and dummy analyses but are not highly invested in the industry. They want to increase their subscribers and make money from advertising. It's important to follow only influencers that have proven to have correct influencers, didn't promote any pump and dump schemes and don't pump shady projects. XAGUSD Investors prefer the US dollar over silver The XAGUSD pair shows a local downtrend after reaching year highs around $27 per ounce. Now the asset is correcting downwards, being at 25.56. Despite serious geopolitical tensions, the prospects for strengthening the position of silver remain low. The crisis in the energy market, caused by the refusal of the United States and some European countries to import Russian oil, will contribute to the growth of prices for "black gold" for a long time. Most investors will prefer to work with oil since the average volatility for the instrument allows traders to increase their capital from 5% to 10% daily, which is impossible to do in silver, which at best changes by 1 - 2% per week. The key point for the "bears" is still 0.6836 (Murray [2/8], the lower line of Bollinger Bands), the breakdown of which will allow quotes to fall to the levels of 0.5859 (Murray [0/8]) and 0.5371 (Murray [-1/8]). If the central level of Murray's trading range is broken out, the price will rise to the levels of 0.8789 (Murray [6/8]), 0.9100 (50.0% Fibonacci retracement). Technical indicators don't provide a clear signal: Bollinger Bands are directed downwards, confirming the continuation of the downtrend, MACD is near the zero line, its volumes are insignificant; however, Stochastic is reversing upwards, which does not exclude the continuation of corrective growth.
